Custom 3D-Printed Portrait From a Photo

Upload a photo and get a custom single-line portrait built as one continuous raised line — a design a 3D printer can actually produce. Download the STL for ₪10, or order a physical print shipped worldwide.

Why a single line is a good 3D-printing subject

Most photographs are unsuitable for 3D printing because they are made of tone, not shape. A greyscale portrait contains no height information — there is nothing to extrude. A single-line portrait solves that at the source: the drawing is a single continuous contour, so the print is one raised ridge travelling around the subject.

That structure is what makes the result printable. The whole likeness lives in the path of one line, so a printer only has to follow it. There is no colour to reproduce, no shading to approximate, and no detail that disappears when the model is printed at a modest size.

From photo to printable model

The generation takes about 30 to 60 seconds and produces the same drawing that Lynez uses for its prints. The digital STL file is ₪10 and downloads immediately after payment, ready to load into a slicer. The first generation on a new account is free, so you can see the line before you buy the file.

If you would rather hold the piece than print it, the same drawing is available as a physical print — small from ₪49, large from ₪89 — shipped worldwide. There is no requirement to own a printer.

1

Upload a photo

Choose a clear, well-lit picture of one subject, a couple, a family, or a pet. JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF are accepted.

2

Get the single line

The subject is retraced as one continuous line in roughly 30 to 60 seconds, keeping the profile of the person in the photo.

3

Download the STL

Buy the ₪10 STL file and print it yourself, send it to a print service, or order a physical print instead.

One line, no greyscale

The design is a single raised path. Nothing depends on reproducing tone, so the result prints consistently instead of turning into an unreadable slab.

Print at home

The STL loads into the usual desktop slicers and printers, so you can produce the portrait on equipment you already own.

Or use a print service

No printer? Send the same STL to a service that accepts uploads and have the piece made and delivered for you.

Physical print as well

The identical drawing can be ordered as a finished print shipped worldwide, so a 3D printer is never a prerequisite for owning it.

Printing the portrait yourself

Once the STL is downloaded it behaves like any other model file: import it into your slicer, scale it to the size you want, and print. Because the artwork is a single line with no fine tonal detail, it holds up at small sizes as well as large ones — a desktop-sized piece keeps the same clarity as a larger one.

The practical constraints are the ordinary ones for any print: thinner lines need a fine nozzle, thicker lines are more forgiving, and a print with a single continuous ridge has very little overhang to worry about. Materials are your choice — the file does not prescribe one.

Choosing a photo that prints cleanly

The same guidance that applies to the artwork applies to the print. Pick a sharp, well-lit photo with one main subject against a simple background, at least 500×500 pixels and under 10MB. A head-and-shoulders shot gives the cleanest ridge; a busy background adds contours that would print as stray lines. The gallery shows what finished portraits look like. When you are ready, upload a photo and the first generation is free.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a single-line design print well in 3D?

A single-line portrait is one continuous raised ridge, not a greyscale image. A printer can extrude that ridge directly, so the whole likeness is carried by one printable path with no colour or shading to reproduce.

What exactly do I download?

A digital STL file of your single-line portrait, delivered immediately after payment. It is ready to load into a slicer and print.

What does the STL file cost?

The digital STL file is ₪10. Payment is charged in Israeli shekels (ILS); amounts shown in other currencies are estimates only.

Can I print it at home?

Yes. The STL works with the usual desktop 3D printers. If you do not own one, the same file can be sent to a print service that accepts STL uploads.

Can I order a physical print instead?

Yes. The same drawing can be ordered as a physical print — small from ₪49, large from ₪89 — shipped worldwide. You do not need to 3D print anything to own the artwork.

Is the STL refundable?

No. The digital STL file is non-refundable once it has been downloaded. Physical prints can be returned within 14 days if they arrive damaged or defective.
